About MARNI ELIZABETH HANSON January 8, 1953 - October 3, 2016 On October 3, 2016 a new angel arrived in Heaven. Marni Elizabeth Hanson of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Marni leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life; her son, Maury Malchuk (Audrey); sisters, Linda Hanson (Conrad Preisler), Lois Moss (George); her brother Ernie Hanson; and her friend Ed Chudrick; her nieces, Corinne Chartrand (Patrick James Graham), Donna Campbell (Darryl), Debora Gautron; her nephews, Scott Peters and Joshua Hanson (Andrea); and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a long list of friends. She shared a very special relationship with her granddaughter Gillian Malchuk, whom she loved beyond words. Marni was preceded in death by her dad Lloyd Hanson (1995), her mom Dorothy Hanson (2008). Marni went to Robertson School, Andew Mynarski, and Sisler High. She was very sports minded and loved playing volleyball, basketball, baseball, bowling and especially golf. She would regale us all with stories of her friends and antics on the golf course. She started her working career at Riteway Cleaners, then worked as a night staff and later group home worker at Mary Mound School. She then went on to be a case worker for Big Brothers and lectured for many years at Weight Watchers of Manitoba ending her career as the Area Manager. She loved cooking strange concoctions (garlic on everything) and testing them out on her family. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens planting triple the seeds and allowing everyone to raid. Sundays, she joined her sisters and brother to play bridge, an important time together. Her laughter, generosity and enormous sense of fun was evident to all who met her. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at CancerCare of Manitoba and Riverview Health Center. A special thanks to Karen Toole for officiating and for being our friend. Funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Foundation.
