School Role Faculty
Date of Passing Aug 06, 2015
About FRANK HORNER Frank "Gramps" Horner on Thursday, August 6, 2015, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83. In 1987, he was predeceased by his wife, Hilda. He leaves to mourn his passing, daughters Lynn (Rob McMurtry), Tracey; son Bill (Susie); grandchildren Mario, Michael, Kristine, Kaitlyn and Timothy. Gramps was born on December 9, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He's been living in Calgary the last 12 years, but his heart was always with Winnipeg. He enjoyed travelling back to Winnipeg to visit family and friends and was always loyal to the Bombers and Jets. Gramps enjoyed telling stories about his early life growing up in the West End, and his jobs with Canada Packers, the CNR steel gang and Bank of Montreal. The next adventure was a teaching career with a memorable year in Winnipegosis, followed by many years teaching business education at Sisler High School. In retirement, Gramps' days were filled supporting his family, along with many carpentry and home renovation projects. After a days "work", Gramps could often be found in his garage, sharing a beer with his dog Nicky. He will be missed by his family, friends and dog Murphy. As per Gramps' wish, cremation has taken place and he will be joining Mom at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 29 Street Northwest, Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. albertacancer.ca/tom-baker-cancer-centre
