About JANICE LANE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Lane, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. After a lengthy illness at Bethania Personal Care Home Janice passed away on January 7, 2014 at the age of 72. Janice was predeceased by her father Norman, mother Clara, brother Glenn, and husband Lloyd. Janice leaves to mourn husband Harvey, daughter Barbara (Darryl), sons Steven (Jodi) and David, grandsons Mike, Danny (Cassie), Jeremy (Megan), Shaun (Erica), granddaughters Alyssa and Amanda, great-grandchildren Matthew and Carlee, niece Reagan, and nephew Miles. Mom was born Janice Caroline Blakesley in Thunder Bay, Ontario on August 29, 1941. From there the family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Sisler High School, and a few years later married Lloyd at the age of 19, three days before her 20th birthday. Mom spent many years working at Park Manor Nursing Home, she later finished off her career at the Fresh Water Fish Plant. Mom enjoyed the love of music (especially Elvis Presley) as well as playing games and cards. She also loved traveling, camping, animals and wrestling always along with the company of friends. Mom's earlier days were also spent devoted to the selling of Amway products and to the Streamliners fitness organization. Mom was a very easy going woman who enjoyed the pleasures of family functions. She was a kind, generous, sensitive woman who was caring and loving to the people around her. In 1998, on Valentine's Day, Janice married her new love to be Harvey. She adored him and loved him dearly and they lived their new life very happily until a few years later when Mom began her long, courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease. She spent a short while at Charleswood Manor before finally settling at Bethania Personal Care Home where she lived the last eight years that carried her on to her final days. Being of Ukrainian descent it was only fitting for her to be called home on Ukrainian Christmas, to all of her loved ones that have been patiently waiting for her. Our memories of who you are, who you were and all that you have ever been and given to all of us are now and will forever be eternal. We wish to thank the staff at Bethania for their love and support throughout. We also would like to express our sincere thanks to pallbearers Mike, Danny, Jeremy, Shaun, Ken and Trevor Lane. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
