About | SHARON (LYNN) OSACHUK (nee THOMPSON) On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, with her Jims by her side (her husband and her brother), Lynn was finally was able to rest. After a brave and inspiring three year fight with cancer, Lynn passed away. She was predeceased by her father John Thompson, and her mother Kathleen. Lynn was born on March 6, 1947, in Winnipeg. She was the middle child between her older brother Jim (Lesley), and younger brother Allen. Lynn was born and raised in Winnipeg's North End. She attended Robertson School, Andrew Mynarski (whose reunion Lynn MC'ed) and Sisler High School. It was in a packed car on the way home from Sisler in 1962 where she met Jim Osachuk, a guy from the wrong side of the tracks, albeit three streets away. In that car, she sat on his knee and asked "How do you like me now?" Mom and Dad fell quickly in love. They lived in Osborne Village, the North End, had children, Kelli and Kevin (Janine), moved to Selkirk, and then to the West End where they raised their family. Lynn enjoyed a long career, many as Executive Secretary to the Manitoba Minister of Health. In every place they lived, at every workplace, at the cottage in the Whiteshell or at the Sportsmen's Club, or at the trailer in St. Malo, she collected friends. Everybody liked Lynn. She was warm, charming, funny, and oh so talkative. Lynn was a prodigy at small talk and making friends quickly. When Lynn made a friend, she made one for life. She will be missed by so many; far too many to mention by name. In 1996 Lynn became a grandmother to Logan, and in 2001 to Jillian. Her grandchildren made her so proud and she loved them fiercely. She enjoyed so many things with them, especially if it involved feeding them or supporting their interests. She would tell ANYONE about them. Lynn loved so many things; a good spicy Caesar, listening to Janine sing, the Jets (especially Mark Scheifele) and the Bombers, playing Scrabble, watching golf (Freddy Couples!) and curling (Brad Gushue!), entertaining (especially cooking for any major sporting event), manicures and pedicures, and relaxing at the trailer in St. Malo. She also tolerated her husband Jim. Lynn and Jim knew each other for 57 years, and were married for 53. It was shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary in 2017, and a trip to the Maritimes, that Lynn received a diagnosis of cancer. She bravely fought it for three years, and we are so thankful for the wonderful staff of CancerCare Manitoba and A6 West at St. Boniface Hospital. Cancer was very hard on Mom. But cancer, never even for a moment, diminished her spirit. She would still warmly receive anyone who visited and ask with great care about their well-being. If you knew mom, you were loved, and you knew it. She was a beautiful person. When it is safe to do so, a great celebration worthy of such an amazing woman will be held in her honour.
