About RONALD (RON) KACHUROWSKI April 20, 1945 - March 12, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald Allan Kachurowski on March 12, 2018, at his home, on his terms. After a long and arduous battle with several cancers, he is now at rest. Left to cherish Ron's memory is his wife of 53 years, Grace (Gaida); his daughter Cheryl (Sheldon), son Todd (Rhonda), and his grandchildren Matthew and Katelyn. Ron will also be missed by his in-laws, cousins, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ronalda and Michael Kachurowski; two sisters, Judith and Marlene, and two brothers Thomas and Barry. He was the last surviving member of his family. He was also predeceased by his parents-in-law, Elsie and Stan Gaida. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Ron attended Margaret Scott, Isaac Newton and Sisler High School where he met his wife Grace. In his younger years he was quite the athlete running track, playing fastball and kicking the football across the field. An early retirement allowed him to spend time doing things he loved. He took much pride in his yard and garden, enjoying bbq's and nice quiet evenings in the backyard. Many a day was spent fishing in Lockport. He was an avid car racing fan, spending most summer weekends watching drag racing at Bison Dragways and in Gimli, also any tractor pulls he could get to. He enjoyed travels to Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas and South Beach. He was an animal lover and saved many strays along the way, his pets were family. He was a great Dad, and a super Papa. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, can crushing or just passing on his worldly knowledge and philosophy. He never left a stone unturned and had an answer or an opinion for pretty much everything. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Paul, Dr. Pathak, his Palliative Care nurse, Angela and M.A.i.D. In accordance with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place with Eternal Grace Funerals.
