About | RICHARD LEONARD DUDEK A good coach sees in you, what you can't see in yourself. It is with heavy hearts we share that on January 3, 2016 Richard Dudek passed away. Richard grew up in the North end of Winnipeg, he played Football and attended University in Bemidji and also winning the Vanier Cup with the Manitoba Bisons. Richard worked for many years for the City of Winnipeg in training and development. Coach Dudek spent more than 50 years on the football field as a player, coach and community leader. Once retired, Richard continued on with his private consulting business and was active on many volunteer boards. Richard's kind and supportive demeanour made you feel like you could tell him anything without judgement, while he puffed away thoughtfully on his pipe. His love and passions carried onto to his children, Adrienne and Adam whom had a special and close bond with their father. Richard was predeceased by his parents Irene and Stan; and now watches over daughter Adrienne; son Adam (partner Shannon); sister Linda (Ken, Andrea, Cam); and brother Daniel (Cheryl, Addison). He also leaves behind many, many players and colleagues who looked up to him and will cherish his memory. Thank you to the amazing staff at Concordia Hospital and Home Care. Thank you to the Gibson/Jansen families, Christine O'Donnell and the entire football community for it's over whelming expression of support. A memorial gathering will be held at West Kildonan Curling Club on Monday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. May you now have the best view of the field.
