Date of Passing Mar 14, 2006
About It is with mixed emotions of sorrow and gratitude that the family of Blair Fenton (Pops) announces his death on March 14, 2006. He was born in Taber, AB on May 3, 1921. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Mary and their infant son Matthew, and by his second wife Margaret. He was also predeceased by his father Leslie and his mother Jean; his brothers, Kenaston and Cecil; and his sister Bette Lount. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Leslie and John Stoddart (Katherine, Kirsten, Scott, Megan, and Josh), Richard and Candace (Elizabeth), Robert and Jennifer (Ryan, Mikale, Sam and Alex), Mitchell and Karen (Oliver, Russell, and Faye), Jonathon and Laura (Maddy, Walt and Jake); Margaret's children, Cathy and Garnett and 10 great-grandchildren. Dad served with the RCAF in the Second World War after which he returned to University as a veteran to complete his education. He worked with the Winnipeg School Division in various capacities as a teacher, counsellor and administrator at Greenway, General Wolfe, R.B. Russell, Sisler and Argyle schools. It was with his family, however, that he found his greatest happiness. He rejoiced in their accomplishments and gave unwavering support in times of crisis. As the patriarch of the family, he welcomed reunions at Sandy Bay where he delighted in besting his children at tennis, golf and double solitaire. A self taught jack of all trades, he had to have a project on the go at all times. The family wishes to thank the homecare workers and the staff at Tudor House in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba would be appreciated. The funeral service will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, on Monday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m., Dr. Gordon Taylor officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
