About JACQUELINE FRANCES HARTWICK (nee ROGERS) May 28, 1956 - September 28, 2013 After a very long and difficult battle with cancer, Jackie passed away peacefully and with dignity on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Jackie leaves many wonderful memories with her husband Harry, who was her one true love and constant support throughout her illness. Also remembering Jackie are her sons Dennis (Marion), Colin (Amber) and her only grandchild, Killian. Jackie will be missed by her brothers Jim (Hélène - Justine, Julien), Gerry (Susan), sister Jude (Rob) and niece Amanda. Jackie is predeceased by her parents Harold and Elsie, as well as her niece Cortney. Jackie was born in Winnipeg's north end, on Burrows Avenue, just 13 months to the day after her twin siblings Gerry and Jude. The Rogers household was crazy busy to say the least. The Rogers kids were known throughout the neighbourhood as the "Four Js" even though Gerry is spelled with a G! The family enjoyed many summer vacations either at Chesley's or on road trips to eastern Canada to visit family. Gerry and Jude have great memories of growing up with (and tormenting) their little sister Jackie. Jackie attended Florence Nightingale and Sisler High School. Jackie and Harry married in 1987 and in the early 1990s moved to British Columbia where Jackie worked at various jobs until her illness made working impossible. Jackie was stubborn and determined not to let her illness prevent her from doing what she wanted. Last year, Jackie managed to make a trip to Winnipeg to attend Colin and Amber's wedding and meet her grandson Killian for the first time. Jackie was tough and she amazed her doctors and her family with her ability to carry on, no matter how ill her cancer or its treatments made her. She truly was a fighter and not a complainer. We admire her determination to not leave this world until she was good and ready. She did just that. Jackie's wish to be cremated has been followed and she did not want a funeral. There will be a private family gathering when Jackie's remains are interred alongside her mother's. Jackie loved animals and hated cancer so donations to either cause would be appreciated. Jackie will be missed forever and loved always.
