About PATRICIA LYNNE KENNY With great sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Patricia Lynne Kenny (nee McLean), at her cottage at Spruce Bay, Manitoba on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Pat is survived by her loving husband Niles; her dear children, Somer and Ryan; her brother Brent (Barb); her sisters, Joan (Gary), Gail (Bruce) and Wendy (Don); mother-in-law Janet; sisters-in-law, Charmaine and Charlene (George); canine companion Gracie, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Olga and Jack; father-in-law Don; sister-in-law Kathy; and beloved dogs Spencer and Mila. Pat was born in Winnipeg on February 11, 1953 to Olga and Jack McLean. Her formative years with her sisters Gail and Wendy were, in her words, "full of mischief". She graduated from Sisler High School and in 1973, pursued her mother's dream of becoming a nurse. She completed her nursing training at St. Boniface Hospital, and went on to enjoy an outstanding career as a head nurse in the maternity ward there. Pat was fourteen when she met Niles, the love of her life. They were married on July 13, 1974, and in 1975, purchased their home on Greenwood Avenue in St. Vital, where Somer and Ryan grew up, and where the family still lives today. When the kids were young, the family spent summers at their trailer at Spruce Sands. Pat used to love spending days on the beach enjoying the sun and water, and visiting with friends and family. In 1986, Pat and Niles began their labor of love building their cottage at Spruce Bay. The cottage was Pat's favorite place to be, where she felt most comfortable spending her time and where she was at peace. Pat was one of those special people with a world-class sense of humour, and a world-class smile to go with it. She had a joke for every conversation and an infectious laugh. She loved to knit and crochet, and many will treasure their knitted gifts from Auntie Pat. Pat also loved to read, watch classic films, Antiques Road Show and crime dramas and in recent years became a devoted sports fan, never missing a televised Bombers or Jets game. But no love was deeper than her love for her children, of whom she was exceedingly proud, and Niles. "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand." A celebration of Patricia's life will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Road, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society. seasonsfunerals.ca
