About	HENRY LITSCHKE Peacefully, on Thursday, October 22, 2009 Henry Litschke passed away, at the age of 55, after a short battle with cancer. Henry will be dearly missed by his parents Sophie and Fritz Litschke; sister Jutta Owens, brother-in-law Brian Owens; his niece Brianne O'Neill and husband David O'Neill; Henry's grand nephew Declan; and his numerous great friends and extended family members. Henry was born Heinrich Georg Litschke in Konigsbronn, Germany on January 7, 1954. He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1957 moving to Winnipeg. Henry met many of his lifelong friends at Sisler High School and playing junior hockey. For several years in the early 1980s, he played professional hockey in Germany where he formed more lasting friendships with people he met there. Hockey was an early and lifelong passion of Henry's, but he also enjoyed playing golf. He has been a member of Elmhurst Golf and Country Club for many years. At Elmhurst as well, Henry has made many more friends. Henry's profession was Drywall Taper which he learned from his father, Fritz. Henry and Fritz worked together as independent sub-contractors for many years. When Fritz retired, Henry took over the business. Henry, like Fritz, was highly regarded by the contractors with whom he worked. Henry was very generous, supporting many charities and sponsoring three foster children in developing countries. He could always be relied upon to provide whatever assistance was requested of him. In keeping with Henry's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on October 27, 2009 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 370 McKenzie St. at College Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Ursel, Gary Johnston, Bob Ouelette, Gerhard Koesters, Ted Ranick, Ron Campbell, Gaby Thalmeier, Paul Weibe and Bob Popowich. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at RR6, Rehabilitation Hospital. A special thanks to those who have been a source of comfort and support to Henry and his family over the past several weeks. Henry's friends were always there to help him and his family.
