He was the goalie of the Junior Winter Games ball hockey team, and they were undefeated from 1969 to 1971. Wayne had many hobbies and passions. His first passion was refereeing and he reffed hockey of all levels for 39 years. He also reffed inline hockey for eight years, he truly loved the game of hockey. He enjoyed fishing, collecting hockey cards, pins and anything with NHL on it. He was very talented at cross-stitch. His latest passion was the Elmwood Jr. Curling program which he coordinated. He was also Whitney's coach for curling and an instructor for the MCA Bison curling camp. Wayne volunteered for the following, United Way, Variety Club, City of Winnipeg Public Works Expo, BDO Canadian Open Curling, as well as a member of the Elmwood Curling Executive. He was a board member at the Assiniboia West C.C. for 13 years. He would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that helped him in his final few weeks of life as he battled his disease and especially Dr. Ian Marahaj and Dr. Patrick Laurence for being so honest.
