GREG FERGUSON - INDUCTED TO SLO-PITCH NATIONAL HALL OF FAME

Class of 1975

Greg Ferguson was inducted as the 14th member into the SPN Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov 14th at the Slo-Pitch National Annual General Meeting in the “Builder" category.



Greg has been a volunteer with the SPN Manitoba program since SPN’s inception in 1989, and has held the position of Provincial Coordinator as well as Area Coordinator. He has been involved with the organization of every Provincial and National Championship hosted in Winnipeg since 1989, and was inducted into the Manitoba Hall of Fame in 1999.



Greg started the first Women’s slo-pitch league in the province of Manitoba and organized the first Women’s Western Canadian Championships, held in Manitoba.

Slo-Pitch National provides and promotes organized slo-pitch softball programs to members of across Canada.



History

Slo-Pitch National Softball Inc., commonly known as Slo-Pitch National or SPN, first started offering tournaments, league & team membership, and umpire programs to Canada's slo-pitch community in 1989.



Governance

Slo-Pitch National is governed as a National Not For Profit organization in accordance with the Government of Canada guidelines. A Board of Governors consisting of the President, Vice President, Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer are responsible for the oversight of the corporation.

A National Board of Directors consisting of a Regional Director from each Region is responsible for the programs developed within the specific region and or province.

The National Board of Directors meets annually at the Annual General Meeting. Meeting dates and locations are determined on an annual basis.

Slo-Pitch National National Office is located at 20 Lightbeam Terrace, Unit 9, Brampton, ON, L6Y 6H9 and staffed by full and part time staff positions.

Prairie – Saskatchewan

Central – Manitoba and Nunavut

Programs

Programs are offered to Players, Teams, Coaches, League Executives, Umpires and Event Organizers.

Slo-Pitch National offers, to member teams, a Canada-wide qualifying tournament program leading to Regional, Provincial and National Championships in over 22 categories and calibre levels. Slo-Pitch National, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, administer, coordinate and regulate over 950 tournaments each season across Canada.

Slo-Pitch National offers membership benefits to teams, leagues and umpires on an annual membership basis. Slo-Pitch National’s group insurance program offers leagues, teams, umpires and event organizers secondary accident insurance along with a third-party liability coverage of up to $5,000,000. League banquet and tournament convener host liquor liability insurance is available to qualified members.
