B basketball Coach Smith my real mentor.I call it 16 seconds(No not sex).I was on a b basketball team back 1974 I think playing Walnut HS at there gym.We stunk first game than played well after this game.16 seconds was left and bus was starting up.We were down by 11 points.Coach Smith called time.Wow he was mad he was red as chili peppers.He yelled at me and Robert Rhoads and John Barnes for giving up!I know I didn't and them either but said U want it get it and something clicked and we inbound ed the ball and Rhoads hit a corner shot and they fouled him.He hit the FF down by 8.14 seconds left I stole the inbound pass under basket and twirled for lay up and there center hit me so I got the foul shot down by 5 with 11 seconds left they called time out.Coach Smith said nobody talk let's see we're this goes!There coach was screaming for anybody to inbound ball correctly and we came out coach Smith sat in chair first time ever sat anywhere he was also our shop teacher.Rhoads tipped the inbound pass at half court and I ran and got it which I took a 30 footer caus I panicked and got fouled by same big center and made basket and FF.9 second left down by 2 and they called time out coach Smith look like Red Fox jumping screaming ya ya.The inbound pass was stolen again by Robert Rhoads to John Barnes to me and I took 1 a 15 footer with 3 seconds left and there star fouled me.The place was packed then for a b game this was something.I had to sink this or school would be hell thats all I could think of and by god I sank it . school next day was great for us geeks than!
