Derek Brown

Class of 2001

Derek Brown is part of the renown art group Hong Kong Willie. He is the son of a family having ties to the Tampa community since the beginning of Tampa itself. Hong Kong Willie Studios established in 1958 has long lived the green lifestyle before the term came into existence. Derek Brown is the son of artists' Joe and Kim Brown, founders of Hong Kong Willie Studios. Derek is artist, publicist, and part proprietor of this preservation art group well documented to impact our society. Creative Loafing named Hong Kong Willie Best of the Bay in 2007 ( Best Place to Buy $1 Kitsch to $10,000 Folk Art. Derek Brown well exemplifies the character a Sickles High graduate emulates.
