| Favorite School Memory | Sherman Lunch, Dancing before school started , launched my day, friends-- running in order to not be tardy...the whole atmosphere of excitement was great to me. I loved all my teachers. |
| About Me | My name is, Betty Burdette, and you probably remember me as the only married senior. For several years my husband,Fred Burdette, and I lived in Annandale Va, then in Herndon, Va., I ran a day care center in my own home for four years, then tried my hand at office work with a secret clearance for a group of engineers with Naval contracts in Ocenanographic Data. In 1970, My husband contracted to brick McDonald restaurants, so we moved to Fayette County, Beckley, WV. We had four children, two are living (beautiful girls), and nine grandchildren. On good Friday, April 10, 1993, my husband and only son were in a tragic accident in Gulf of Mexico. There were four family members in the ocean for 141/2 hours, one lived to tell what happened. God has blessed me with being publilshed by The Library of Congress; The International Library of Poetry, Watermark Press, and Nobel House Publishiers, London, UK. I was inducted as an honored memember of International Poet Society in Washington, DC, and awarded lifetime membership with Poet Laureate in April 2006. I had been a honored member since 2002. Received International Library of Poetry nomination as poet of the year August 2002; Awarded Famous Poets of Hollywood, Calif., The Betty S Burdette Poet of the Year 2003 Medallion; and Shakespeare Trophy of Excellence Award. I am a member of, The Academy of American Poets, NY --2004 thru 2014 The International Library of Poetry; Featured profile page one and two of "Best Poems and Poets of 2004 & 2005," press released January of 2005; "Who Is Who In Poetry 2005;" with honary "Poet Laureate" status April, 2006.
