Judith Mortense Donley
Class of 1974
Air Force, 5 Years
I served 5 years in the Air Force. My job was Aircrew Life Support Specialist; I inspected helmets, oxygen hoses, survival equipment, filled oxygen bottles, CO2 bottles, loaded and unloaded survival equipment aboard aircraft. I attended 3 survival schools; Basic, Artic, & Water Survival, I taught crewmembers how to use survival equipment. I learned how to fire a 38 Caliber Pistol and I issued weapons to Pilots. I had the privilege to fly in an FB-111 Fighter/Bomber jet October 10, 1977. In January 1979, I attended Operation Red Flag, war games near Las Vegas, Nevada, where I observed crewmembers in a simulated desert survival situation from this experience I created a lesson plan to give Crew Members who might need training in Desert Survival at my home base in Plattsburgh AFB, New York.
