Charles Black was my cousin and we both graduated with the SHS Class of 1959. We became very close towards the last few years of his life. He was an ornery teenager and it was very uplifting to see how he became an upstanding citizen with lots of love for his family and his fellow Iowa State Patrol members. He self-published a book, "True State Trooper Stories," which details many of his favorite experiences over his 35-yeasrs with the Iowa State Patrol.
