| About Me | After SBHS, I attended Brooklyn College, graduating in 1970 with a double major in Education and in Sociology. I worked first in Advertising and then in an Israeli Travel Company. I met my wonderful husband in 1975, and we married in 1977. We raised three beautiful, wonderful sons, the second of whom has disabilities because he was born 3 months prematurely. When he was 12 years old, I took him to meet Prof. Reuven Feuerstein, ztz"l, at the Feuerstein Institute. Within one week, Dr. Feuerstein had my son speaking in full sentences when he never was able to do so before. Ten months later, he had a bar mitzvah, during which he read in Hebrew from the Torah and gave a speech in English, which he wrote by himself. I was so impressed with the methodologies developed by Prof. Feuerstein that I attended a workshop for professionals to learn the methods used. I was the only parent admitted to the program. At the end of the week, Prof. Carl Haywood encouraged me to return to school for a master's degree in special education, emphasizing the learning of the methodologies of Prof. Reuven Feuerstein. Subsequently, I obtained a master's of science in special education and received my NYS license to teach special education through high school along with general education from nursery through junior high school. I taught in Torah Academy for Girls (TAG) Junior High School for many years, and I was often able to incorporate Prof. Feuerstein's teaching methods into the curriculum I was teaching. In 2007, after my eldest son, his wife, and their daughter decided to stay in Israel permanently, and my youngest son also decided to stay permanently, my husband, our middle son who has disabilities, and I moved to israel to be able to be with our children and grandchildren. Living here in Israel is a dream come true. After teaching for many years, I reinvented myself here in Israel and became a licensed real estate broker. I have not been able to work these past 2 years, however, due to health-related issues. During the summer of 2014, Israel was in another war for its survival against Hamas and other Islamic terrorists. Although I heard the sirens and sometimes the bombs, I feel safer here than I would anywhere else in the world. After all, I am living in G-d's land. I do hope and pray that the US government and armed forces will stand by Israel and will fight against the terrorists here should the need arise.
