About Me Social responsibility: a concern for the impact of actions on society. First and foremost, I am a mother. Women choose adoption so their child may have a better life than we can provide at that moment. The pain and suffering we endure is nothing compared to the love we carry, always, in our broken hearts for our children. I love my son more than I could ever begin to describe. I miss him. I am a free spirit, a logic puzzle whiz, and a Suicide Girl. I believe children are the reward of life and in the political philosophy of a Socialist Democracy. I am colorful both on the inside and out, and like every path my life has traveled, each tattoo has a story to tell. I am a photographer. When I am not reading, studying, with friends, or any of the dozens of activities I seem to stumble and fall upon, I can be found aiming to capture that delicate balance between nature and emotion, everyday eccentricities, and the momentary glimpse of beauty we so often, tragically, ignore. I am leaving the life I have so eloquently lived and loved for the past decade for a new journey in life. I am returning to school for a Master of Accountancy at Missouri State University. In addition to receiving my MAcc, I will also receive a Forensic Accountant Certificate. I am ready to buckle down for the career of which I wanted for myself when I was in high school and look forward to the life of which lies ahead. I have had an astounding, intricate, and diverse career specializing in mental health, substance abuse, and youth populations. Although I have helped many people along the way, I must give credit to those individuals who allowed me into their lives with making me a better person. No matter where life brings me, I will always be dedicated to making the world a better place, in whatever form that may be. Here is a bit more about me: Interests: Spending time with my son. Reading. Skateboarding. Bicycling. Frogs. Chameleons. Graffiti art. African art. Camping (in a cabin). Learning. Listening. Make up. Sports. Photography. Crossword puzzles. Logic puzzles. Pure craziness. Music: Liberal talk radio - NPR, Democracy Now, BBC, PRI. I am a big fan of live music and college radio. Fav band: The Dollyrots!!! Movies: Fight Club!!! I am obsessed with Marla, no wait, I am Marla. A Nightmare Before Christmas. Big Fish. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Donnie Darko. Fargo. Temple Grandin. 200 Cigarettes. Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2. The Life of Pi. Where the Wild Things Are. Food, Inc. Most Pixar/Disney animation movies. Skate videos. Documentaries. The biggest tear jerker I have watched as of yet: Sicko. Why does Socialized health care work in other countries but not ours? They live in a world of WE, not me. It is up to you and I to organize for social change. Get your ass off the couch and make a difference in the world. Books: I would imagine every book ever printed is a favorite of someones, as there is no such thing as a bad book. I have a sneaky suspicion that books printed from alternative presses top many lists, if you are so fortunate to have read one, and I highly recommend that you do. Favorite genre: non-fiction. Favorite topics: food politics, economics, social issues. Favorite authors: Mark Twain, Michael Pollan, E.O. Wilson, Temple Grandin. Favorite book: East of Eden by John Steinbeck. My secret hiding place: the public library. KNOWLEDGE IS EMPOWERMENT. Television: KILL your tv and read a book. Someone recently asked me what I do all day without a tv. My response: well, I read, watch birds, go for bike rides, cook, plan things, clean up - you know, live and enjoy my simple yet fulfilling life. The response: I don't think I could do that. My thought: Sitting around on a couch for hours staring at a box seems pretty lame. I guess I would rather be living life than watching it...
