Graduated from the University of St Thomas in 1982 with a degree in Education and a minor in English. Taught with HISD for 17 years at the elementary school level. Married Paul Hamilton, a 77 SHS graduate in 1985 and had one daughter born in 1998. Mary died after a hard fought battle with cancer in 2003.
