The Holiday Inn Express on Route 9 in Latham will give us a REUNION SPECIAL RATE, good for both Friday night, 6/27/14 and Saturday night 6/28/14. The price is based on a BLOCK of 12 rooms a night, and it's STRONGLY suggested we get at least 12 rooms, especially for Saturday night. If/when we get more than 12 rooms a night, we can add on, and MAYBE get a lower rate.

Our group contact is me, it may also be listed under my radio on air name, Mike Patrick (Used to work for the guy who owns the hotel, so that helped with the discount). Reservations MUST be made by 5/29/14, after that, it's only space available. Keep in mind it's a busy weekend so the earlier you make reservations (along with reservations for the reunion), the better the odds.
Like I said, I (Mike) plan on staying Saturday night, and the bar provides a nice after Reunion atmosphere.

Calendar of Events: Lake George Cruise, Friday, August 13 at 2:00 pm. Join the classmates of the Shaker Class of 1970 for the kickoff event of a terrific weekend with a cruise on Lake George aboard the Mohican. Cash bar and snack bar for purchases. No picnics on board. This is a non-exclusive tour, and it can sell out. The boat leaves the dock at 2 pm. Arrive early to claim your reserved tickets. Anne Genova negotiated a special group rate, so ask for the special reunion pricing. Special Price for Class of 1970: $16.65 (Regular adult is price: $18.50) Children's prices available. Inquire. Everyone pays for their own tickets and makes their own arrangements. Please call Doreen Brown at Lake George Steamboat Company (518)668-5777 to reserve your ticket, and for special reunion pricing. They have a website, but you cannot get the discount unless you call Doreen. We will arrange for someone to have a Shaker 1970 sign in the meeting area on the dock. Meet & Greet, Friday, August 13, 2010 7 pm to whenever This event is in anticipation of several out-of-towners arriving on Friday and wanting to get started with partying rather than sitting in their hotel room waiting for the picnic on Saturday. It’s also a chance for locals to start partying early, and welcome the out-of-towners. We expect that a few folks from the Lake George cruise will stop by as well. You don’t need a ticket for this event, just show up. We will gather at the bar at the Indigo Hotel, A Google map for the location of the meet & greet is here. Saturday morning, August 14 Fill this time in however you want. Suggestions? Swing by the old school, drive around Latham. Locals might want to open their home for coffee and donuts. Out-of-towners can bring the donuts. Saturday, August 14, 12 noon to 7 pm This is the main event. Krause’s Grove is our host. The place is located on the Mohawk River directly across from the old Colonie Town Park. Your ticket purchased from the reunion committee buys you all day picnic food, and at around 4 pm your choice of BBQ chicken, or regular chicken. Google map to Krause’s Grove is here. Scott MacPherson is arranging to have all four members of the original Utmost Four (Scott and Gary MacPherson, Mark Belair and Leo Buchakjian) perform for us. They will be recording the entire performance, and a DVD of the performance will be available for a nominal charge. Utmost Four t-shirts will be available. A dance floor, along with recorded music will be provided for a good part of the day. Sunday, August 15 This is a second opportunity for you to arrange your own time. Hook up with friends, find a local to drive you past old haunts, go to the Saratoga Raceway, or see what’s going on at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Additional info: At this time about 120+ Shaker ’70 alumni are active on Facebook. If you decide to join us on Facebook you will find a number of rewards: yearbook photos of all 1970 seniors, with over 2,000 comments from classmates, photos of Latham from years gone by, current photos of classmates, their kids and grandkids, as well as music and TV clips from our teenage and grade school years. It’s a blast. Join us on Facebook for a few laughs. A couple of key people on Facebook are: Tom Daoust (4 photo albums of Shaker Seniors, old Latham photos, Utmost Four pics, etc.), Donna Folsom Traver (click on her events tab for the latest info on the reunion).
