About	David was the owner and operator of the Knight Manufacturing Company, which was founded by his grandfather, Harland Knight, and his father, Williard Knight, in 1935. He was also the owner of the Belmont Stamping Company, which was acquired in Aug of 1986. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended West Liberty State College and Ohio University. He also owned and operated the Pizza Pub in Shadyside in the 1980's.

Once when visiting the Valley Dave gave Sallie and I a tour of the old Belmont Stamping building, which at that time had a contract to produce steel coffins for the Israeli military. He pointed out the prewar-era shafting and drive drums, which still had their old belting in places. The centerpiece was a gigantic knuckle-action sheet metal press still in operable condition. Dave was very gracious in showing us this historically significant place and you could tell he had The Industry in his blood. His hard work in keeping both places alive allowed (who knows how many?) people to be gainfully employed while keeping what was once Shadyside's only industrial plant in that Industrial Area still open and productive. Today, driving by on Rt. 7 you can still just barely read "BELMONT LEAD COATED STEEL CASKETS" on the fading black band across that still-imposing building. Our eternal thanks to him for preserving a piece of Shadyside history; may you Rest In Peace, Dave - for a job well done.

As a postscript I should mention that his brother Gary and I visited Knight Manufacturing a couple of times having great fun heating things red-hot in their forge in those pre-OSHA days - only to have my Mother bawl me out for getting my school clothes so dirty!
