| About Me | How did I end up in rural North Carolina? At the last reunion I was an executive (o.k. Director) in product development at ATL Ultrasound. I was there for 15 years and accomplished a great deal in improving diagnostic imaging. In 1998, ATL was bought by Philips Corp. (light bulbs, TVs, etc.) for around $800m. As with the Borg, we we're assimilated, and work ceased to be as much fun and challenging as in the past. Having a 9 year old at home, it seemed that I could spend my time better, so I left Philips in 2000. For the next several years I did volunteer work, partnered in a VC firm and held various board positions. Meanwhile, my husband was still slaving away at Boeing. His parents health was declining, and we decided to move to the family farm allowing him to semi-retire, slow down life a bit, and reduce expenses. We moved here a year ago. Life has been pretty chaotic so far as our house was under construction until 2/05, we moved 3 times, and I started college to learn how to produce pottery.
