Bernie passed into the loving arms of Jesus to be reunited with his mother, Dorothy Ettenborough Harris and his father, Bernard John Harris, Sr. and his sister Anniemarie Harris. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Fisk Harris Class of ‘61 and his two daughters Heather Harris Aguirre and Holly Harris Duke, five grandchildren and his brother A. James Harris and sister Frances Rose Harris. Bernie retired from General Telephone and had an active 20 year retirement learning to fly a single engine airplane which he did with great joy until he developed Alzheimer’s disease which took his life at the age of 77 years.

Bernie was my husband for over 56 years. We dated for four years before we married. He’s been gone for five years and I still miss this wonderful man.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss my sweet Bernie. I met him at Shadle when we shared a second year Latin class. I was 15, he was 16. I was in love with him from the moment I saw him. We married at 19 and 20 as students at WSU. He completed his electrical engineering degree there and went on to get an MBA at Seattle University. We were married for over 56 years. Two girls, 5 grands.
