About	David William Slimp, age 70, of Stapleton, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025. David began working with the Homewood Police Department and retired as a Lieutenant. He then transferred to the Homewood Fire Department, where he worked until his retirement. David served his country in the United States Army National Guard. His greatest passion was skydiving. David was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and June Slimp and by a sister Debra Crain. He is survived by his sister Samantha (Greg) Shaw of Daviston, his nephews: Chesley (Lauren) Crain of Riverside, Gregory (Julie) Shaw of Kentucky and CJ (Nicole) Shaw of Cullman, his great nieces: Libby Crain and Isla Claire Shaw and his great nephews: Lucas Crain, John Thomas "Jack" Shaw and Everett William Shaw and by his longtime girlfriend Denise Norman. A visitation for David will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM also at Ridout's Valley Chapel with burial following at Forest Hill Cemetery.
