About Kathleen “Kay” Bowmaster Green, born March 30, 1945, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Ralph and Opal (Renner) Bowmaster, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and impact. Kay was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend who touched the lives of many.

Kay was the cherished wife of Regy Green, with whom she shared a wonderful marriage of 57 years. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in love and support, raising two sons, Trent (Mary Lou) and Travis (Shauna). In addition to her boys, Kay was the Nebraska mother to Marcia Tate (Golding) from St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica. Kay was a proud grandmother, affectionately known as “GG” to four adoring grandchildren: Sophia, Miley, Abigail, and Everett. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense joy in being an active and loving presence in their lives, including “running” Camp Green in the summer for many years.
Kay grew up in Seward, Nebraska, with three siblings: Ron Bowmaster, Judy Krueger, and Becky Bowmaster, with whom she shared many cherished memories. Her close-knit family was a source of happiness, pride, strength, and comfort throughout her life.
Kay graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and was a loyal member of Willard sorority. She then received her Master of Education from the University of Nebraska. Following in her parent’s footsteps, she was a dedicated educator. She spent 28 years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for teaching was most evident during her tenure as a computer teacher at Hill Elementary, a position she often referred to as “the best job in Lincoln.” Her commitment to her students and her innovative approach to education earned her the prestigious 35th Scottish Rite Teacher Award in 1999, one of the highest honors within Lincoln Public Schools. Long after she retired, Kay continued to follow the achievements of her former students, taking great pride in their successes and careers. In addition to her dedication to teaching, Kay was active in many social and community organizations, including: P.E.O., Junior League, Nebraska Education Association, “Over the Hill” Retired Teachers, and St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
Kay was a fabulous wife, an unbelievable mother and mother-in-law, a grandmother like no other, and a great friend to many. Her warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched and the loving memories she leaves behind.
