Served in Viet Nam aug66-Sep67 as an armorer in a tank unit. Went to Panama to test fire the M-16 rifle for the govt.Made a Med - Cruise with 8th Marines Mar68-Aug 68. Went to Gitmo Dec68 on a IG Inspection Team fof 8th Marines. Honorably discharged Jan69 at rank of SGT.

Went to boot 2/67, then Corpsman school flunked out. Received orders for the "volunteer " Riverine Force went to Whidbey Island Wa. for SERE training (survival, evasion, resistance, escape) training. Then Riverine tactics at Mare Island Ca. After that it was off to Vietnam, everything was ok for 3 months small fire fights every once in a while. Then on 4April,1968 evrything became real, I was wounded by shrapnel my captain was KIA (killed in action) the machinegunner was KIA ,radioman nearly lost his arm and these were the guys that were within 10 ft. from me. I certainly was happy when I went home.
