Marvin was born in Louisville on February 26, 1948. He was a proud graduate of Seneca High School and shared the spirit of the basketball glory years of the 1963 and 1964 KY State High School Basketball Championships. He attended U if L in 1966-68 and transferred to Indiana Univ. where he graduated in 1970. Then he attended and graduated from UK Law School in 1973, became an Asst US Attorney for the US Justice Dept. between 1973-78 in Washington DC. Marvin returned to Louisville in 1978 to open a law practice and continued his law advocacy as a trial attorney until his untimely passing on March 16, 2025 in Louisville. Survivors include his wife Patti of 48 years, sons Brandon (Summer) and Spencer, grandson Simon, and 8 first cousins, and childhood friends with whom he shared many memories and experiences. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Sidney and Mollie (Yoffe) Coan and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
