| About Me | I entered the Army in 67' as Enlisted and attained the rank of SP5 (Spealist 5) before entering the US Army Warrant Officer Helicopter Flight School. Met my wife during first phase of training at Ft. Wolters, TX., while she was attending Denton Women's College of Nursing. Married during last phase of flight training at Ft. Rucker, AL. Graduated Oct 69 as a Warrant Officer One, earned the Aviator Medal, and received orders for Viet Nam. Assigned to the 119th AHC based out of An Khe and Pleiku, the Central Highlands. I flew over 2,000 hours andd earned the Air Medal with 32 device, the Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Qualified in the TH55 (trainer), OH23, TH13, OH58A, UH1B,D,&H (Huey). Qualified as Standardization Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner in the Huey. Cross trained into Fixed Wing and trained in the Beech Baron Twin Engine Airplane in 1981. Then qualified in the Queen Air 100, C12 King Air and assigned to the 207th Aviation Co. based at Heidelberg, Germany. Flew to every European country except Russia and at that time, East Germany. After three years of flying in Europe I was reassigned to Davison Army Airfield, VA. where I flew as Pilot in Command for the Secretary of the Army and other Congressional Leaders, and the Pentagon General Staff. In 1990 was selected to qualify in the Gulfstream II (Corporate Jet) program for the elite US Army Jet Company. Shortly after qualifying as Pilot in Command in the GII, GIIB, and GIII, crossed trained into the Lear 35. This unique first ever Army Jet Transport Company flew the Pentagon's Commanding Generals, the Secretary and Under Secretary of the Army, the Command Sergeant Major of the Army, Foreign Dignitaries, and other Congressional Leaders to every parts of world. In 1995 after 28 years of service and over 10,000 hours of flying time I retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4), and received my last awards, the Legion of Merit and the Order of St. Michael. Immediately accepted a job as Chief Pilot in the Lear35 for an upstart company in Manassas, VA. But through Corporate mismanagement and financial blunders I resigned and accepted a job flying the Gulfstream IV for a billionaire out of Bermuda. The Company paid for the Initial qualification and for every 6 month of refresher training as required by the FAA/FAR. Yes, it was very nice to have the money when flying a multi-million dollar airplane, where money was not a factor. After five years of flying and at the age of 55 (my projected retirement date) I retired from flying altogether. I recorded 11,780 hours of flying with over 2,700 hours of simulator time for helicopters and airplanes. I have settled in the Virginia area with my wife, Connie (40 years this year). My daughter is married with 3 boys and settled in Leuvan, Belgium. I enjoy maintaining my property. I did all the landscaping and Connie did all the plantings (over 200 species of flo...(read more) |
