OK weekly reunion reminder I'm sending this email today to remind everyone that the deadline for tickets is fast approaching so get out those checkbooks and stamp and mail them in!!!! Over the last couple of months I have had the honor of working with Chris Nicholas's mother on a memorial for Chris at this reunion. Some of you may or may not know that Chris is no longer with us and the tragic story has left several of Chris's family coping everyday with his passing. Chris was killed where he lived in Arizona in January 2007. Chris was killed by a 19 year old girl who had been drinking, underage of course, all day. She was caught and prosecuted and she received 20 years in jail doing hard time and 5 years probation after she is released. Chris was very involved with the Boy Scouts as his older son was in scouts and Chris was Cub Master for the area they lived in. He also was an avid hiker, hiking rim to rim at the Grand Canyon on many occasions. That was his greatest love, being outdoors and living with nature. You may all remember than in school Chris was involved heavily in the marching band, concert band, jazz band and he loved to play his trumpet. He went on to Clarkson University he once again got involved in the pep band and played at all the hockey games. Chris's family plan on some day having the book published for each of his boys so they remember and can read how much their dad was respected and loved and I encourage anyone that writes on it to read the whole thing, Mrs.. Nicholas reads it often and it gives her great strength to know he did not live his short life without making an impact on so many people so having more written on it would be wonderful. and one last footnote from Mrs.Nicholas: "all the friends that I have now my greatest strength when Chris was killed came from those that I graduated with in 1965 from Draper."
