| About Me | Busy, Busy Since High School. Well, it's been a good ride. Two years at Iowa Central, graduated with Associates degree. Another couple of years at UNI working on a Bachelors. I was going to teach drivers ed and coach wrestling till I figured out I really didn't like teenagers. So on to bigger and better things. While going to UNI I started working at a marine dealership in Cedar Falls, IA. I started as a Mechanic and was Service Manager when I quit 10 years later. By that time I had married Becky (formerly Bowers, you don't know her). For those of you who missed the wedding, the date was 8/15/1980. We have two sons Christopher (now 21) and Joshua (now 18). Where was I . . . O yeah. I quit the dealership and went to work for OMC. OMC is a big company based in Waukegan, Ill. They make Evinrude and Johnson outboards among other things. Worked a couple of years as a Customer Service Rep (basically answering technical questions over the phone), then transferred to technical literature. In that job I created training programs and wrote service manuals. I worked for OMC for about 12 years. An offer from a competing company came, so I jumped ship to Mercury Marine. They make Mercury Outboard motors, MerCruiser Sterndrive. I'm the Manager of Technical Literature Development which means I manage the creation of owner/operator manuals, Service Manuals and Instruction Sheets. Good company, good job, nice area (Fond Du Lac, Wi). It's a good life. I enjoy boating and tinkering around the house. Well that’s about it. Drop me a note, I'd love to hear from you. News flash! Maybe it didn't make the Iowa papers, but I got a better job offer from John Deere, so I went to work for them. Still in tech publications so a lot of the same skills apply. Seems to be a great place to work and I don't need to relocate. More money, bigger company, more potential for advancement. Yipee! whats not to like! Another update! The Gents at Deere decided to move my job to NC. They offered to move me as well, but I declined. Instead, I took a job with Deere in the Quad Cities. I lead of team tha...(read more) |
