Stephen D. Olson, son of Ed and Shirley Olson was born on April 26, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Forman, North Dakota, and graduated from Sargent Central High School in 1980. He then went on to earn a broadcasting degree at Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He lived there until returning to North Dakota, when he decided to follow his dad’s footsteps in the gravel business.
He was united in marriage to Joanne Dirks on May 25, 1985 in Lakeville, Minnesota. Steve and Joanne made their home in Lisbon, North Dakota for 23 years, when they moved to Brandon, South Dakota in 2007.
