| Events | Randy Eugene Harrison, 69, of Vassar, KS died Monday, October 14, 2024 in his home. Randy was born July 18, 1955 in Kimball, NE the son of Eugene Roy Harrison and Patsy Lea (Hamilton) Harrison. Randy was raised in rural Osage county graduating from Santa Fe Trail with the class of 1974. After graduation he enrolled in the Police Academy and graduated. Randy began working in 1975 for Osage County Sheriff Department as a patrol officer. He eventually left to become an officer with the Paola Police Department and then returned to the Osage County Sheriff Department as a Deputy and Patrol officer. As his health began to fail he moved to a jailor with Osage County until his retirement in 2021. Randy loved his profession. On his days off of work he usually helped to cover neighboring police departments such as Overbrook, Lyndon and Osage City. When he was at home he would usually be found watching television shows on law enforcement. He did like to mix in the occasional western or Gunsmoke when a law enforcement show wasn’t able to be watched. When he was younger he enjoyed fishing but his mind was never far from his job. Serving his community was in Randy’s blood and he was proud to serve his community. On December 31, 1982 Randy was united in marriage to Marsha Morgan in Paola, KS. Marsha precedes Randy in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Karen Cartwright and Tammey Harrison. Randy is survived by his daughter, Patty Johnson and her husband, Jim, McKinney, TX; son Kelly Harrison, Williamsburg, KS; four sisters, Brenda Durkin and her husband, David, Eureka, KS, Kathy Pfannenstiel and her husband, Steve, Topeka, KS, Rhonda Newman, Eureka, KS, Kim Timmons and her husband, Bob, Auburn, KS; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Grace Community Church, Overbrook, KS. The family will meet with friends for a visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Overbrook, KS.
