Events James “Jim” Duncan, 65, of Overbrook, KS passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at his home.

He was born January 18, 1957 in Topeka, KS, the son of Robert E. Duncan and Lorraine (Rosetta) Duncan. Jim was a lifelong Overbrook resident graduating from Santa Fe Trail High School with the class of 1975. He then went on to attend Baker University at Baldwin.
Jim worked for the Overbrook CO-OP from 1976 to 2000 most of those years as the manager of the grain and feed elevator. He then began working maintenance at Brookside Nursing Home, Overbrook until 2006. Then he started working Maintenance at Brookside Manor. In 2008 he was working for the Family Guidance Center in the Maintenance Department. He retired on his birthday this year.
On July 17, 2009 Jim was united in marriage to Tereasa Odger at Lyndon, KS. They recently shared their thirteenth year of marriage.
Jim was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Yankees, and most of all the KU Jayhawks. It was always easy to tell how his teams were doing when you were with Jim, by his level of happiness during the games. He was a proud member of LaPeer Catholic Church and enjoyed attending the small community church. He loved to hunt and was always ready for a trip to Roaring River for a day of trout fishing. Jim loved his family, most of all his grandchildren. He loved to see them grow and was always smiling when they were around.
If Jim wasn’t with his family, he was coaching. What started out as a job to help out Santa Fe Trail Junior High. He coached the JR. High girls basketball team. He then went on to coach the Jr. High boys’ basketball team and their football team. His true passion was coaching the High School baseball team. He was president for four years of the Overbrook Ball Association. Jim loved coaching baseball and he loved seeing the local boys grow and improve in the sport.

He is survived by his wife, Tereasa Duncan, Overbrook, KS; two sons, Jayson Duncan (Tanya), Overbrook, KS, Justin Duncan (Melissa), Topeka, KS; two daughters, Alicia Duncan, Lawrence, KS, Erica Phillips(Anthony), DeKalb, MO; two step sons, Seth Belfield (Lauren), Jacob Belfield, St. Charles, MO; two brothers, Bob Duncan (Mary Jane), Olathe, KS, Don Duncan, Americus, KS; and nine grandchildren, Tyler, Miley, Keelyn, Shaylee, Lucas, Symiah, Maykiah, Claire, and Isabelle.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Funeral mass will be said 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Scranton, KS. Burial will follow at Overbrook Cemetery, Overbrook, KS.
