DARRELL GLEN ESPY, 50, died Friday, May 28, after a fight with cancer.
He was born in Las Cruces. One of his proudest moments was when the Santa Fe Demon's basketball team won the state championship in 1978. He was the starting center, No. 44.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Fred A. Espy, and grandparents, Kenneth and Elsie Espy and Judge Bill and Marie Scoggin. He is survived by his mother, Becky S. Espy of El Pueblo; brother, Mike R. Espy of Santa Fe; sister, Lori M. Espy (Anthony G. Montoya III) of El Pueblo; special great-nephew Jacob Montoya and other nephews.
A celebration of his life will take place June 12, at his home in El Pueblo. The family can be contacted at 505-470-0145 if you wish to attend. Cremation has taken place.
