Our amazing husband and father John Ebie, 58, of Reno, NV peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday August 5, 2009. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to the late Galen and Gwyneth Ebie, on January 27, 1951, in Reno, Nv. John later moved to Santa Cruz, CA, and graduated from Santa Cruz High in 1969. He married his wife Ellen and they lived together in San Francisco, CA, before relocating back to Reno in 1976.

John was a computer programmer for the Sierra Pacific Power Company, as well as a Tennis Pro for the Reno Tennis Center and Caughlin Ranch. He was also the Head Coach for the Reno High School Girls Tennis Team and worked with the tennis programs for Wooster High and other local schools.

John was an active member of USPTA. He was a volunteer for Special Olympics, YMCA Soccer, and Renown Medical Center. John had a great sense of humor, a zest for life and family, and was looking forward to being a grandfather in November.

John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen; two daughters, Mora Nichols and Meredith Freed; son-in-laws, Christopher Nichols and Eric Freed; two sisters, Gail Orozco and Molly Resetar. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the Reno Cancer Foundation at 1155 Mill Street Reno, NV 89502. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Hidden Valley Country Club, 3575 East Hidden Valley Drive Reno, NV 89502.

And last but not least, he was the best husband and daddy in the world! We'll miss you, Big Dog!
