| About | TWO DIE IN COLLISION OF AIR FORCE JETS WINNFIELD, La. - Two Air Force fighter jets collided during a training exercise and crashed in a wooded area of central Louisiana, killing both pilots. Both A-10 single-seat jets carried training bombs and missiles and some of the ordnance exploded in the accident yesterday, a spokeswoman said. The Air Force identified the pilots as Lt Colonel Jeffrey J. Watterberg of Albuquerque, N.M., and 1st Lt. Eric M. Miller of Sewickley, Pa. Jeff was one of three pole vaulters on the track team at Hoover Junior High. The other two were Gary Johnson and Larry Breen. |
