We knew each other through student government activities and sitting next to each other in study hall. There was normally a smile on your face and a light on your eyes. You were kind. A piece of me died when you did.

Jerry Georges was a light at both La Colina and SMHS. He had a wide-open heart, which was rare in students, because of those difficult teen years. I was just a little unimportant shrimp at LC, while he took the honors of being one of the two top students, along with Sharon Hartigan, for both scholastic skills and popularity. Yet he wrote a glowing account of me in my yearbook, encouraging me to open up and smile more, instead of being so quiet and serious. Thank you, Jerry. The fact that you passed away in Vietnam saddened us all; the world lost a wonderful person. btw I took Jerry's advice seriously, and to this day try to remain up and cheerful, in spite of life's unending pressures.
