Brian barker

Navy, 6 Years
Joined the navy and went to boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill in September 2000. Spent time in Puerto Rico working as a military policeman. Left the navy in 2004 but after getting a BA degree and a three year break in service he re-joined the navy and is now statioened in Yokosuka, Japan serving on the destroyer USS Lassen as a Damage Controlman.

Enlisted in the Marines 1968 to avoid the draft!(My Dad was Master Sgt. in the Old Corps.) My MOS was 0844. Left active duty in 1970 and voluntarily transferred to USMCR while finishing BA at Cal. Western U. (USIU) Eventually became LDO (Major) and retired on a medical after 17 years 7 months and 1 day! Service: Vietnam, Spain, England, South America (western Amazon & French Guiana),
USSR. Belgium (NATO), and Ireland.

I served 4 years as a CH53 crewchief in HMH 363 in the Marine Corps from 1979 to 1983. I then received a commission as an Infantry Officer after graduating from SDSU in 1986 and served on active duty army in Korea, Germany, Texas & Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia & Iraq. I served on active duty until 1992 and then moved to the Army Reserves from 1992 and served in Bosnia in 2002 & 2003. I retired in 2003, then came back in at the request of a friend to take his place in Afghanistan in 2010 through 2012. It was great to link up with my classmate and friend, fellow Go-nad, Doug Elmore.

Our San Dieguito High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done!
