About Gary Glenn Corbett was born Monday, September 18, 1939 in Salmon, Idaho to Glenn and Melissa Corbett. He was the fourth child in a family of five siblings: Carol, Joe, Joyce and Harriet.
Gary worked on the family ranch growing up and attended school in Salmon Idaho and Great Falls, Montana. At about 18, Gary moved to Ely, Nevada and started work at the Ruth Copper Mine. He met Kathy Henriod and they married Friday, February 13, 1959. Together they had a daughter, Melissa (Lisa) and a son, Kelly.
Following an injury, Gary worked as a police officer in Ely until the family moved to Elko, Nevada in 1963, where he worked at the Ranch Inn Hotel and Casino. In 1966, the family relocated to Wendover, Nevada and Gary was employed by the State Line Hotel and Casino. In 1966, the family relocated to Tooele, Utah where Gary served as an officer for the Tooele Police Department.
Gary and Kathy divorced in 1978. Gary moved to Bullhead, Arizona in 1979 with his second wife, RaeAnn and stepson Jonathon. In 1981 they moved to Reno, Nevada and then divorced in 1984. Gary moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. He relocated to the Philippines in 2008 where he then married Elvie Corbett. Gary died in his home on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 77 from cancer.
Gary enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles and he liked a good game of cards. His pastimes included waterskiing and fishing.
Gary is survived by his wife Elvie; daughter Melissa (Dan) Mawson, Spring Creek, Nevada; son, Kelly Corbett, Elko, Nevada; granddaughters, D’ette and Merissa Mawson, Elko, Nevada; Katy Mawson; and T.J. (Brian) Allman, Reno, Nevada; great grandsons, Tristan and Oliver, Elko, Nevada; stepson, Johnathon (Cari) Bradley; step grandson, Jonah and step granddaughter Brianna, Reno, Nevada; stepdaughters, Mary JoeAnn and Vanessa Joy; sister, Carol(Conley deceased) Smith; brother, Joe (Louise) Corbett, Tremonton, Utah; sister, Harriet (Ed) Bakly, Great Falls, Montana; stepsister, Katherine (Leo deceased) Gifford; stepbrother, Donald (Sharon) Fromm, Pocatello, Idaho; stepbrother, Roger (Mardelle) From, Great Falls, Montana; stepsister, Shirley (Robert) Krans, Caldwell, Idaho, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Corbett, mother, Melissa Ione Peck Corbett and sister, Joyce Ann Corbett.
Services were held August 20, 2017, in the Philippines. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Gary’s name be made to the Northeastern Nevada Museum, 1515 Idaho Street, Elko, Nevada, 89801
