Dirk Merrick passed away in the Austin, Texas area of a heart attack on Friday, June 09, 2000 at the age of 60. He was not just my brother, but a best friend as well as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was living here in Austin Texas, near most of the family at the time of his death. He and his wife loved to volunteer on our Central Texas Old Time Trains.
