About Judy “Trophy” Purvis, 57, of Eagle Point, Oregon, died February 25, 1997 at Providence Medical Center in Medford, Oregon of pneumonia.
Judy was born August 27, 1939 in Thermopolis, Wyoming, the youngest of four children of Bud and Lena Purvis. From Wyoming, they moved to Salmon where her love for horses led her to trick riding and being a rodeo princess. Judy’s parents owned and operated the Purvis Café from 1950 thru 1956. In 1975 she was known as the first women in Idaho to parachute jump. In 1975 she moved to Southern Oregon, to the Medford area.
Judy was currently Secretary for the Confederated Tribes-Rogue-Table Rock and Associated Tribes of Medford and a member of the Job’s Daughters. Judy was also a strong supporter in the John Newkirk for Congress campaign.
Judy enjoyed following her son Mel in sporting events while he was attending school. Trophy was a nickname given to Judy. The loved the outdoors, gardening, motorcycle riding, horseback riding and nature.
Survivors include her son, Mel of Cape Corral, Florida, her mother Leana Purvis of Central Point, Her sister, Sherry Stricklan of Grants Pass, Her brother Denny and his wife, Donna, of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her brother Raymond.
Currently Judy’s mother, Lena, now lives near her grandson Mel in Florida. Her brother Denny and his wife, Donna, currently lives in Southern California where they manage a mobile home park and golf course.

Judy died of complications linked to cancer in 1997, this photo was taken in March of 1996. Judy like to go by the nickname of "Trophy" acquired from game hunting. Her favorite song was "Mack the Knife", and favorite thing was the outdoors and nature
