Police Delve into past for Stephanishen Murder Clues

NEW BRUNSWICK - Police trying to find the killer of Diane Stephanishen, who was knifed to death in her hotel room on Albany Street Monday, have discovered that the 31-year old victim had been married four times.
According to the Chief of Police in Salmon, Idaho, Karen Diane Withington - the victim’s maiden name was first wed on September 9, 1957 to Phillip C. Gutzman. She was then 17 years old. They later divorced three months later.
Gutzman, a career Army officer, is currently stationed at Fort Polk, LA.
In October of 1958, she married Stanley R. Schlicter, whose current whereabouts are unknown. A divorce followed on April 16, 1959.
Mrs. Stephanishen’s third husband, Stanley Seitinger was the father of a child, Alan Seitzinger, who currently lives with the Withington family in Salmon, Idaho, police said. That marriage started sometime in June 1960.
In 1963, having apparently been divorced from Seitzinger, she married Ronald James Stephanishen. He is now 29 and living in Idaho Falls, Idaho, according to Idaho Authorities.
Police have questioned more than 50 local persons and use lie detectors test in their investigation of the brutal murder.
Her body, lying on a blood soaked bed, was discovered at 3:50 AM, Monday by Perry Jones, her boyfriend, when he returned from night shift work at Food Additives, Inc., in Madison. James has been cleared of suspicion in the case.
