About Me	Aloha kekahi i kekahi (love one another) Rick Wagner is an engineer and scientist retired from Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems in Southern California and now lives iin Honolulu. He was born and grew up in Monterey County, California, graduating from Salinas High School in 1967. He is a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Air Force with an honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1978, and is a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 53. Dr. Wagner graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1994 with a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, and from USC in 1997 with a Doctorate in Computer Science with emphasis in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. He has been active in politics and a member of the Torrance Democratic Club since 2004, and served as President from 2008 to 2010. Rick also volunteered as a mentor for Beach Cities Robotics (FIRST team 294), a high school competitive robotics team from 2002 through 2010, and is now mentoring the Kalani High School team (FRC 3008). He is a member of the University of Hawaii (UH) Alumni Association and represents UH in recruiting students at high schools and community colleges. He is a founding Co-Chair of the Space Robotics Technical Committee of the Robotics and Automation Society of the IEEE.
