About	Brian graduated Cum Laude from Western State College in Gunnison in 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He was a member of the CO Natl. Guard stationed at Fort Carson. He was deployed to Iraq in 2005. From Nov. 2005, he and the CO Natl. Guard's 947th Engineer Battalion were stationed at Ramadi, COP North and Rawwah. Returning to Salida and his job at BV Correctional Complex, he was promoted to sergeant at the boot camp. He has two daughters, DesirÃ©e and Brianna Welker. Brian was a European history buff and gave yearly presentations about World War II to Salida High history classes. He took pride in his home and yard and enjoyed vintage Volkswagons and collecting antiques. He was a free spirit who loved the outdoors and the Arkansas River Valley. He was an avid telemark skier, mountain biker and boater.
