Favorite School Memory Craziest school memories: Blowing stuff up trying to make rocket propellant in Science Class. There is no way we could get by with some of the stunts we pulled today. JROTC: The seeds of patriotism, leadership, civic responsibility, and self esteem were planted here. About Me I graduated from Sale Creek High School (Sale Creek, Tennessee) in May 1984 and I entered the Army on the 26 July 1984. I went to Basic and Advanced Infantry training at C Company/7th Battalion, 1st Infantry Training Brigade (Sand Hill Barracks), Fort Benning, GA and became an Infantryman (11B). My first duty station was with B Company/1st Battalion, 38th Infantry, Camp Hovey, Republic of Korea. I was stationed there from November 1984 to May 1986. The positions I held while in Korea were rifleman, machine gunner, team leader, and company operations clerk. My second duty station was with A Company/5th Battalion, 16th Infantry, Fort Riley, Kansas. I was stationed at Fort Riley the first time from June 1986-April 1988. The positions I held here were Nuclear, Biological, and Chemcical NCO, M113 Armored Personel Carrier driver, assistant squad leader, squad leader, and track commander. I joined the Tennessee Army National Guard shortly following my initial commitment in April 1988 and was a member of B Troop/1st Squadron, 278th ACR, Sweetwater, Tennessee. The positions I held while here were cavalry scout, and 25% Overstrength Officer. From August 1988 to May 1992, I attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I was commissioned an Armor officer in May 1990. Following graduation from UTC, I attended Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox and subsequently was stationed in Vilseck, Germany with 1st Battalion, 37th Armor. While in this battalion I was a tank platoon leader (October 1992-March 1994), mortar platoon leader (March 1994-April 1995), and S3 Air (April 1994-October 1995). I transfered from Germany and attended Armor Officer Advance Course at Fort Knox. My next assignment was again at Fort Riley, Kansas with 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. From June 1996 to April 1997, I was the Brigade Plans Officer. I was the company commander of Company A/2nd Battalion, 34th Armor from 11 April 1997 until 10 September 1998. After Company command, I became a Troop/Company Trainer with Team 1/2nd Battalion, 409th Regiment (TSBn) supporting 1st Squadron, 278th ACR, Athens, Tennessee (TNARNG). I was assigned as the HHC, 48th eSB trainer and the S-3 for 3-306th RGT (TSBn) and Team Chief for Team Calhoun/3-306th RGT (TSBn) from May 2003 until May 2004. After this I attended the Basic Strategic Arts Program from June until September 2004 at the Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA. I was a Army Strategist at U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Georgia and currently a Strategic Planner at U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia. I just completed a short assignment in Iraq supporting Multi-National Forces- Iraq (MNF-I). My military education includes NBC Defense Officer’s and NCO Course, Basic Parachutist Course, Combined Arms Staff and Services School (CAS3), Intermediate Level Education (ILE), Cavalry Leader's Course, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting Course (JPME II). I am married and have three children. My wife is name is Kathy, my daughter Anne-Marie is 22, and my sons Jefferson and Robert are 15 and 13 respectively.
