Passed away October 1, 2008 after a lifelong battle with heart disease. Obituary appeared in the Sunday, October 5, 2008 issue of The Arizona Republic

Murph was my best friend and first best friend if you know what I mean. To think of all the kids he had a positive effect on as a coach and friend, well I would only hope to do half as much. He was my point guard. If you play bball you know what I mean. He took care of the big guy in the middle. Fast as lightning and as quick with a smile. I can still hear his laugh:), but put him behind the wheel of his powder blue Galaxie 500 and the devil would come out to play:). Can't believe we survived some of those rides. I will always be grateful for his friendship.
