About Me | God's hands have been all over my life since the day I was born. The first 20 years were rough. If you don't know me well, you don't know that I came from a very dysfunctional family...was verbally, emotionally and physically abused. My Mom and Dad did their best. Looking back on those years, I know that my Mom did what she thought was right. See. She isn't a believer. She was and is caught up in her own control. My Dad is a believer and he should have known better but for some reason, he didn't and hasn't stood up to her. From the world's view, we were a very "happy, loving famiily". But inside the walls, it was scary. Since I was 20 years old, my Mom, my Dad, my brother and his entire family disowned me because they think I'm the black sheep. See. I won't come home divorced as my Mom desires. I won't listen to them when they say I will regret having an African American child. I won't stand for being abused any longer. I say all of this to tell you that I survived! God knew that was going to happen to me. I'm okay with it. It took years, lots of therapy, a husband's unconditional love and the never ending love of my Jesus to show me that I can forgive and I can survive. I can't wait to talk to my Creator one day about it all. He gave me what He thought I could handle and with time, I am handling it. I am extremely happy being married to the love of my life, Rob. We've been married for 23 years. If I could have skipped all the foolishness I went through with boys growing up, I would have been more patient knowing Rob was waiting for me. Just for me. Rob and I. God had that planned as well. I grew up thinking I was a believer but I wasn't. I went forward to please my family. They were all about the show and why would I know any different? I met Rob in high school and my life did a 360. Thank God for that. Rob pulled me from my misery, showed me what true love was really about, encouraged me to keep going through the pain and live! God knew what He was doing. I have two fantastic blessings called Carissa and Melia. I cannot imagine ever pushing them away or abusing them. They are gifts that I only get for a certain number of years. You better believe I'm taking my job as a Mom seriously and treating these girls with the respect they deserve and only giving them unconditional love. Again. Jesus showed me how this is done. You ask how I came to be where I am. I didn't truly become a Christian until I was 30 years old. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It changed my life. I've grown alot in my faith and thank God everyday for loving me despite being a sinner. I know I am. I sin everyday. But I know the good news is that I'm forgiven. Christ died for me. I don't have to doubt where I will spend eternity anymore. I will be with the one that created me, sustains me and gives me hope. You ask why I live like I do? Because I'm called to. I'm called to step out in faith no matter the cost. I'm called to be different, se...(read more) |
