About Me I first went to Ohio University in Athens, OH, and majored in Photography. I was doing very well in photography, but had to have an art minor and the competition was high. I didn't think I could make it at the senior level so I transferred to UK and majored in elementary education graduating in 69. I was hired at Central Elementary, Winchester, KY, the summer of 69 and taught there at that school for 36 years! I taught science for many years as I loved it and my colleagues didn't-- 4th and 5th. Then I became the Reading Specialist, as that was my degree, for 10 years and then retired in 2005. I basically loved teaching until the testing was more imiportant than the kids. Unfortunately, the best thing about a KY teaching career is retirement! Last year I started a small business with machine embroidery and making Wine Tasting Party Kits. I also make quilts, but that is a labor of love and they don't get finished quickly! I also make needlepoint belts and family members wait to see if one shows up at Christmas. I have one son, born in 1970, Phillip or Mac, one granddaughter, Hannah who is 7 going on 27! Kids are so smart these days! Well, Grandma is just so proud of her. In 1979 we built our dream house on 4.5 acres of Fayette Co. Bluegrass. It looks like a farm house with gray vinyl siding, but it was all energy efficient and self sufficient when we built it. It proved its worth in the terrible ice storms of late with power outage for days. The science worked and we are grateful. For years we cut the grass with a 1951 Massie Harris Pony tractor, if you can imagine me on an old fashioned machine like that! And it was great, but we now get a better cut with a Craftsman riding mower. We still have our antique if anybody collects machinery like that. The years since high school have been full and interesting for us, but for the life of me I can't tell you where they have all gone! I suppose I have been blessed with good health and still feel 17 (well, more like 29!) !!! My mother lived to age 97 and sane as a judge so I can only hope to have a few of those genes. I...(read more)
