Glen Dale Lightner, 53, a lifelong Rush County resident passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Rushville. Glen was born in Rushville, IN on January 18, 1965 to the late Bruce L. and Marilyn J. (Bogue) Lightner.
Glen was a 1983 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. Glen previously worked in farming and as a handyman. Glen suffered many obstacles in his life, including loss of both lower limbs, a massive stroke paralyzing his left side, and was still able to remain at home and to get in and out of his bed and wheelchair. Glen had a heart of gold and he was able to let that light shine through after giving his heart to Jesus. Glen loved his family friends and caretakers.
Glen is survived by his daughter, Brittany of Rushville; 2 brothers, Tony Theobald (Michelle) of Arlington, Troy Hiatt (Stacey), 6 sisters, his twin Melody G. Smith of Rushville, Cindy DeHart of Fairland, IN, Ginger Jarman (Bob) of New Salem, Darlene Grinstead (Bob) of Waldron, Sharlene Mecum (Tim) of Mansfield, IL and Joy Prather (Kerry) of Acton, IN, 2 grandchildren, Madalyn Grace and Michael and a special aunt, Alice Lightner of Rushville.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a special uncle, Alice’s husband Glen Dale Lightner who he was named after.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM Wednesday, October31, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor Brian Yensho will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 3:30 PM until the time of service that same day at the mortuary. Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery at a later date.
